acres updates
New Foodstuffs!!!
Exciting news from the Acreage kitchen: we have a bunch of new tasty treats to pair with your hot summer nights and beverages of choice (be it Alhambra, Zyviec or anything in between)! From popcorn to candied nuts to Salt Spring mussels with double smoked bacon, there are lots of new foods to be shared with friends (and there are old favorites there too)! You can check out the entire menu here: http://sixacres.ca/food/
As for James Brown, he is pretty excited about the popcorn. Understandable.
Closed Monday July 19th.
Just a quick note that will be closed for Monday July 19th. Many and all apologies for any inconvenience caused. The good news, however, is that we'll be in the kitchen all day cooking up something exciting for later on in the week (more news on that soon).
Also, its the last few days to get your entry in for our July Book Contest http://sixacres.ca/blog/july-book-contest-100-prize/
See you soon!!

July Book Contest!!! $100 Prize!!!
Introductory Algebra. Berenstain Bears. Tropical Bird Migration. Radecki Pest. Child Psychcology.
We are asking you to bring in your best book candidate to become one of our food and drink menus at the Acres, with the donor of our favorite book to receive a $100 gift certificate for aforementioned food and drinks!!!
The books don't need to be fancy, but we like fun, strange, and nerdy titles. You can enter up to 6 books and we'll accept them until Saturday July 17th.
All the books need to be hardcover and should be about 5.5" × 8.5" in size and not too thick. Drop off the books attached with with your name, e-mail, and phone number at the restaurant (if we're not in you can slide them through our mail slot).
Have fun and happy July!!!

Extended Hours for Jazz Fest!!!!
Just a reminder for everyone that Six Acres will be open for extended hours this weekend for the Jazz Fest!!!
Saturday noon - 1am
Sunday noon - 8pm
See you there!!!
Loki Double IPA
Just arrived from Paddock Wood in Saskatoon!!! These guys are making excellent beer and have honestly outdone themselves here. There are lovely plays between the caramel malt flavours and bold, zesty hops, with little of the 8.7% abv showing through.
Dangerous, but with the richness of this beer you are best taking it as a sipper. Nice label too!!

Berries and Cerise!!
More exciting beer news this week at the Acreage, as we have just gotten in two amazing fruit beers from Europe!!!
Brasserie Cantillion's Kriek Lambic is a real cherry lambic. This is the last independent brewery in Brussels and they are known worldwide for exceptional quality. There is everything you want in a lambic: decidedly crisp dryness, earthiness, exquisite carbonation, and, of course, beautiful overtones of tart, casked cherries.
Also in this week, the sweet and delightful Samuel Smith's Organic Strawberry Beer brings full, ripe strawberry flavours and aromatics. I tried this for the first time with friends a few weeks ago and it really is unimaginably good - not to mention organic all the way down to the yeasts used in brewing!!
Exciting stuff.

Strawberry Fields Forever. Cherry Orchards too.
Anyone up for a Bock Party?!?!
Just in time to finish a week of fun we have one last treat... Hot off the presses from the island is Phillips Springbock!!!
Traditional German style Maibock: light and crisp with distinctive hops and characteristic finish. Good thing its all sunshine this weekend, because this brew is meant to go with May flowers and nice Gastown patios.

bock party... can't stop, won't stop.
Vancouver Craft Beer Week!!
Next week is the very first Vancouver Craft Beer Week and we are really excited! To celebrate, we'll be bringing in a couple B.C. microbrews that we have never had at the acreage before. I'm not going to say exactly what they are until next week - hush, hush sort of stuff - but I'm sure you are going to like em'!!
Cheers to all the great B.C. microbreweries!
Hooray Craft Beer!!

Olympic Rundown…
Beginning February 8th, Six Acres will be open 7 days from 2pm - 2am, until games end. We will be boasting an all star beer list showcasing Canada's lesser known (and more noteworthy) brewing talent (sorry Molson). We also guarantee a gimmick-free environment in the heart of modern Olympic madness. Hope to see you...
