Remembrances of April Days…
It seems that the cold swells of the year's final exhalations have begun to descend upon our dear coastal hamlet, leaving their sodden grasp upon patio and patron alike.
However, whilst sunshades are exchanged for their rainy day counterparts, the Acres takes opportunity to send fond remembrances of those spring days when puddles were but a marker of floral tapestries yet to break forth from rich soils.
Driftwood Spring Rite Abbey Ale was created using all locally harvested malts and Belgian yeasts. The result is a lovely beer blossoming with notes of citrus, fresh grasses, a ripe fruits. A seasonal ale that we have saved to make these fading autumn months a little sunnier.

Sure, maybe others have made them faster...
But no one has ever looked as good.
Not to mention, it really begs the question:
why do we always recycle our Asahi crates???

Just A Little Sumpin’
A Little Sumpin' Sumpin' never hurt nobody, no time, never.
As the story goes, fella walks in & says he's lookin' for Sumpin' he ain't not had before. Sumpin' he ain't gonna recognize. Sumpin' that might change his world perspective, he says.
Well I tell ya... sure as sugar, lady walks straight behind the bar and grabs a bottle does got just the remedy.
Fella takes one sip and says, "I'll be damned if this ain't the most delectable construction of sweet wheaty malts, fine hops, and curious tangerine flavour!! This sure is that Sumpin' miss, this surely is..."
And that's how the story goes.

NEU und ÜBER FRISCH!!!
Das ist die Edelwiesse Snowfresh!!!
Proud, crisp, & abounding with the courageous spices which creep up the foothills of the mighty Austrian Alps, the Snowfresh is a pleasure that no longer need be lacking from your warm valley days.
Ja! Ja! Ja!

The Twilight Zone
Deschute's Twilight Summer Ale is finally here. And now that summer is here too there is time, at last, to pour it into a tall, cool glass...
But where are all the glasses!?!?!? That's not fair... That's not fair at all. There was time now... There was all the time I needed!!
Pirates, Porters, & パチンコ
Japan. It was 148 years ago, today, that Commodore Matthew Calbraith Perry "persuaded" Japan - a handful of convincing U.S. warships - into opening their borders to the West. Despite his less than noble tactics, North American's may now awe in wonder of Japan's clever creations, grand customs, beautiful cities, and amazing beer.
Thus, we indulge in Baird Brewery's exceptional Kurofune Porter. Named after Perry's "black ships", Kurofune is a full bodied explosion of dark roasty-malt flavour. So good that it is up there with パチンコ as one of Japan's greatest achievements. At the Acres until 鎖国 returns.

Beeeeer Update!!!!!
So, it's been a moment since I have posted on the new beers we've been getting in. Many apologies for leaving you in the dark (sunny afternoons & soft, green grass, being what they are, have been monopolizing a lot of potential writing time).
All this said, onto the beer. Two brand new to the Acres in the fridge, starting this week. From Portland we have Elysian Men's Room Red Ale. Nice easy drinking red, with sweet & bready malts up front that give way to a crisp, nicely hopped finish. A good seasonal from our casual neighbours to the south.
Not to be outdone, a bunch of Samuel Smith's Organic Raspberry Ale is ready to delight. If you have had any of Samuel Smith's fruit beers before, you know what to expect: huge fresh fruit flavours & wonderful aromatics. Like being in the centre of you Grandmother's raspberry patch (minus the thorns).
Oh, and Czech Mate Pilsner from Saskatoon's own Paddock Wood Brewery is in as well. We also have some nice stuff waiting in the cellar that we should have room for this week coming up... I'll let you know.
Anyway, back to those sunny, gentle lawns.

Romper Room
I used to love Romper Room in my youth. My only dismay was waiting what seemed like endless years for my name to be called through the magic mirror. Crushing.
So, in the interest of giving all of you nameless youth your due recognition, I would like to shout out to you, our dear friends!!!!
I see you all!!!!!!!!!!
Attention, Attention!!! The Patio opens!!!
Hear ye, hear ye!!!! Come one come all!!! Our fairest patio is today opened to you for your pleasure & enjoyment.
Come one, come all; and long live summer happiness & mirth!!!
"Onward to the Acreage good brothers & sisters!!!"
