Olympic Rundown…

Beginning February 8th, Six Acres will be open 7 days from 2pm - 2am, until games end. We will be boasting an all star beer list showcasing Canada's lesser known (and more noteworthy) brewing talent (sorry Molson). We also guarantee a gimmick-free environment in the heart of modern Olympic madness. Hope to see you...

Back at the Acres…

Rejuvenated from languishing in front of glowing brick fireplaces and eating everything from jellied marshmallow salads to rum filled chocolates we have returned to the Acreage for another year of merry memory making. To kick it all off we have some exciting new beers lining our shelves. First up, Saltspring Island Ales' Fireside Winter Ale is brimming with notes of fruit, caramel, and flavourful malts. To follow we have a subtler ale, also lovely for the winter months,Dorothy Goodbody's Country Ale. Lastly, to keep some continuity with 2009, we have brought back the hugely popular and super tasty Acme IPA - floral hop aroma, with grapefruit zest and pine on the palate.

So that is that. Happy belated 2010.

Hours for the Holidays

It is hard to believe the current year is drawing to a close. Once again it is time for us at the Acreage to return to the humble pastures of our youth. There we will indulge in festivities and mirth amongst the smiling faces of family and friends. Hence, we must inform you that Six Acres will be closed, with thanks from our mothers, as follows:

CLOSED December 24th - 27th, December 31st, & January 1st

If we don't see you before, Happy Holidays and a Happy New Year.
sincerely,

The Acreage

Monsieur Lemieux…

Mario, how fondly we remember your slight of hand, your top corner magic, your this way & that. How daintily you deeked, how swiftly you shot. In honour of a true blue Team Canadian, let us take a moment to raise our glasses in song:

You the best, Mario Thebest
Yeah you the best, Mario Thebest
To hell with the rest, Mario's the best
You the best, Mario Thebest...

A few new faces…

42-16156370

'Tis a fine day upon which the hairy beer fairy flutters in through the windows of ye ol' Acreage, bringing green velvet sacks brimming with bottled goodies. And what a tidy assortment indeed! From the wind-powered goodness of the Barney Flats Oatmeal Stout, to the subtle nutty kick of the Brooklyn Brown Ale, the beer fairy has most certainly delivered. While supplies last...

Egypt: wonderous, mysterious…

In pharaonic Egypt, the goddess Hathor was celebrated as "queen of drunkenness and dance, the inventress of beer". Cool fact. Here's an Egyptian Lover video.

Playlist To A Seahorse

Open this page in a new window to listen while browsing.

When I think of a seahorse, I have trouble imagining what brings it joy. Perhaps the tiny crystalline bubbles emanating from its bony mantle. Or perhaps the remarkable ability to move its eyes independently. Or maybe being capable of rapid colour transformation, or monogamy or something. But to hell with all that! I want to believe that at the end of a day bobbing about in the coral, our dear seahorse retreats into a sheltered recess & swoons to the dusty crackle of music from days gone by. Songs of suffering, songs of hope. Songs that warm even deepest, darkest sea beds. Enjoy...

In honour of losing light, or rather gaining dark, we are proud to announce our next customer appreciation event. On Tuesday, November 17th, join us under the ever present eye of the moon for the "Half Price Black Butte Porter Extravaganza." It's dark, it's creamy, it's perfect for candle light & shades of night sky. See you there...

Revolutions In Jumping…

The Olympics are coming, this much is certain. The torch is in motion, Omega's digital glory hands tick ever closer. Politics aside, let us take a moment to applaud the Olympiad. In particular, Brian Orser, whose curly coiff & regal onesy brought us revolutions in jumping. Thank you Brian, may your triple axle forever provide shelter to the needy...
